This work analyses various arguments for and against “Citizen Education” as an academic subject. Starting from the distinction between the principle of State neutrality and the right to conscientious objection, the article focuses on the first theme. Special emphasis is placed on the discussion of constitutional flaws alleged by dissenting opinions in Supreme Courtrulings that have, for the time being, settled the legal debate on the subject. The text argues that “Citizen Education”, as regulated by law and State decrees, does not violate State neutrality as properly understood.
