Abstract

The indications given in Article 417bis do not reflect the characteristics and evaluations of contemporary Spanish society. The moment has come to broach a substantial reform of the legislation regarding the voluntary interruption of pregnancy. A serious and fruitful discussion of the alternatives must avoid past arguments too centred on the debate over gestational life value, and focus on the development of appropriate political measures, so far inexistent in Spain, regarding reproductive health.
